Funeral Checklist
It is usual for the funeral home to contact me on your behalf, however, if you wish, you can contact me first and I will assist you in whatever way I can with making the funeral arrangements.
I will make an appointment with you, at a mutually convenient time, usually at your home. It is not necessary for all family members to be present, however usually the immediate family wish to be there. At this interview we can talk about the life of your loved one and some of the questions you will be asked include the following:
- Date and place of birth
- Information about childhood and schooling.
- Details of work
- Personal information, such as important events like engagement, marriage, special celebrations and achievements, places of residence
- A description of the loved one's personality, characteristics, etc.
- Hobbies, interests, community involvement, travel
- Sporting involvement as player or spectator
- Preference for prayer or poetry within service
- Names of other speakers or readers
You should also give consideration to the music used for the ceremony. If your loved one had a favourite song or songs, they can be played at appropriate times. Perhaps you have a favourite song of your own to play or you can select from the standard songs available at most funeral homes and crematoriums or from my own collection.
The interview session is relaxed and informal, and I give you my promise to help you feel as comfortable as can be during what is often a very sad and tense time.
I also like to see some photos of your loved one so that I have a very clear image in my mind.
All care and every effort is made to ensure that the eulogy is absolutely accurate. Communication by email with clients allows an excellent chance to check every word. If email isn't available, I will telephone you to read the eulogy.
